About
Lions
Since 1917, Lions
clubs have offered people the opportunity to
give something back to their communities. From
involving members in projects as local as
cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as
bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions clubs
have always embraced those committed to building
a brighter future for their community.
Today with more than approximately 45,000 clubs
in 197 countries and geographical areas, Lions
have expanded their focus to help meet the
ever-increasing needs of our global community.
The Glassboro Lions Club was formed in 1947 by a
group of local men who felt the need to organize
and follow the goals set by Melvin Jones, the
original founder of the Lions Club. Initially
started by a small group of men, the
organization continued to grow and has
faithfully served the Glassboro Community for
over 50 years in a variety of ways.
The Glassboro Lions Club is presently __ members
strong and includes both men and women. We
remain involved in our community by sponsoring a
Glassboro Little League team, sponsoring Boy
Scout Troop # 289, the Glassboro Cub Scouts, a
Boys State Representative, the Girl Scouts Troop
of Glassboro, the Glassboro High School LEO
Club, supporting the Glassboro F.O.P. Lodge and
their activities, assisting with the
adopt-a-highway clean-up program. We also
provide three major scholarships for Glassboro
High School Seniors.
The Glassboro Lions Club also supports the
activities of The Camden Eye Center, Camp
Marcella for the blind, Canine Hearing
companions, the Delaware Valley Eye Bank,
Bestworks Industries for the blind, The Juvenile
Diabetes foundation, New Jersey Blind Athletes
Association and the Lions District 16-C
Charitable Foundation.
We also remain involved in the activities of
District 16-C and support the goals and fund
raising events of other Lions Clubs in the
District 16-C area.
It is a goal of the Glassboro Lions Club to
continue to grow as a service organization in
the Glassboro area. To the best of our ability,
we will always help our neighbors in need. We
will also continue to assist the Lions Club’s
District 16-C with achieving it’s goals, and
Lions Club International with it’s goals
throughout the world.
The Glassboro Lions Club will continue to be a
strong, community-oriented service organization
well into the future. Join us as we serve our
friends and neighbors in need around the world.
